About Us

Our mission: make physics accessible to everyone

Physics is one of the most fundamental sciences — it describes how the universe operates at every scale, from subatomic particles to galaxy clusters. Yet it's routinely taught in ways that feel abstract, intimidating, and disconnected from the real world. We exist to change that.

Why Physics Fundamentals exists

Walk into most introductory physics courses and you'll find the same pattern: a lecturer derives equations on a board, students copy them down, and then everyone goes home to solve plug-and-chug problems from a 700-page textbook. The result? Students learn to manipulate symbols without ever building genuine physical intuition. They can solve for acceleration but can't explain, in plain language, why a heavier object and a lighter one hit the ground at the same time.

Physics education research has known for decades that this approach falls short. Conceptual inventories — standardized tests that measure real understanding — show that even after a full semester of traditional instruction, most students still hold the same misconceptions they walked in with. The lecture-and-textbook model doesn't fail because physics is too hard. It fails because it asks students to absorb ideas passively when physics is fundamentally about asking questions and testing answers.

Physics Fundamentals is our answer. We're building a platform where every concept comes alive through interaction — where you can change the mass and watch the acceleration change in real time, where you can drag a wave and see interference patterns form before your eyes, where you get feedback on your thinking, not just your arithmetic.

Our Approach

What makes us different

🔬

Interactive First

Every concept ships with simulations you can manipulate. Physics is an experimental science — learning it should feel like experimentation, not memorization.

🧠

Conceptual Depth

We focus on why things work, not just what the formulas say. When you understand the reasoning behind F = ma, you don't need to memorize it — it becomes obvious.

🌐

Completely Free

Quality education shouldn't sit behind a paywall. Every lesson, simulation, problem set, and video on Physics Fundamentals is — and always will be — free for everyone.

How We Teach

Our pedagogical principles

1

Intuition before formalism

We always start with the physical picture — what's actually happening — before introducing equations. The math should explain your intuition, not replace it.

2

Multiple representations

Every concept is presented through words, diagrams, equations, graphs, and interactive simulations. Different students learn differently, and physics is rich enough to support every approach.

3

Mistakes are data

Our practice problems don't just tell you 'wrong.' They diagnose the specific misconception and explain why the correct reasoning works.

4

Real-world connections

Every topic connects back to observable phenomena — satellite orbits, guitar strings, lightning, MRI machines. Physics isn't abstract; it's the operating system of reality.

Our Commitment

Built by physicists, for students

Every piece of content on Physics Fundamentals is written, reviewed, and refined by individuals with advanced training in physics. We don't cut corners on accuracy, and we don't simplify to the point of being misleading. Our goal is to make physics genuinely accessible without sacrificing the rigor that makes it powerful.
