• Vegetable Oil
  • A nail
  • Some bits of plastic
  • A Die
  • A Ping Pong Ball

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Pour some honey into the container, then gently pour some maple syrup down the inside of the container.
  2. Now slowly pour some milk down the inside of the container and on top of that pour some dishwashing liquid, slowly.
  3. Finish by pouring some vegetable oil down the inside of the container.
  4. Now you are ready to drop your objects (nail, plastic, die, ping pong ball) into the container and see which level they sink to.

Tip: Make sure you run the liquids gently down the inside of the container, to help the layers form. If the layers mix then let the container stand for about 30 minutes and you should see they have organised themselves into layers.

PARENT TIP:

This tower should last for a week, longer if you don't use milk (or refrigerate the container). However, when you want to dispose of the liquids I recommend funnelling the contents into an empty plastic bottle or jar and screwing the lid on tight before disposing of it.
